ecuadorecolodge.com

We will pick you up from Quito in the morning. Pacha Eco Lodge is located 3 hours from Quito. Once here, we will set you up in your Pacha room or in your glamping cabin. Then you can discover our self guided trails around the property.

For today’s lunch we will try a delicious local dish prepared with fresh ingredients. Today we will set all the gear and boats to be ready!

Finally, tonight an amazing welcome dinner will be waiting for you in our restaurant.

🍃 Day 2 - Whitewater Rafting - Inflatables Tour: Warm Up

Today we’ll have an easy, relaxing day on a Class II-III run on the Rio Napo. We make sure to take you through the most beautiful places on the river with a very high level of safety. During this trip, we can jump into the water, swim, float on the raft and have fun! Although it is a short experience, there will be plenty of beautiful landscapes full of nature and jungle.

The exuberant jungle on both sides of the river, the sounds of the Amazonian birds, and the horizon of the mountains in the distance will leave you with an unforgettable memory.

We’ll take out at the historic town of Puerto Misahualli where you can take photos of the monkeys, shop for some local handicrafts or enjoy a cold “cerveza” in one of the bars around the park. Then it is back to Pacha for a delicious dinner.

🍃 Day 3 - Whitewater Rafting - Inflatables Tour: Jatun Yaku

ecuadorecolodge.com

At the beginning of the day, after breakfast, we will have a 50 min road trip in order to reach our Put In, Cando; a Kichwa Community located in the Llanganates National Park. This destination filled with mystery and legend, boasts some of the most beautiful landscape and grand biodiversity in the country.

This big water pool drop river, has some big waves and powerful hydraulics if the water is up. At low water, it is much easier and a bit more technical.

In the middle of our trip, we will stop in Shandia: a Kichwa community which is located in an island. Here we can chill and have lunch. Fun is not over!

After, we’ll continue on the river to Puerto Napo before heading back to Archidona. We can stop in Tena on the way to check out the Mercado, indigenous arts, and any shopping that needs to be done. Dinner at the lodge will be delicious!

🍃 Day 4 - Rest or discover the area!

In the surroundings of the lodge there are several jungle activities that can be done: walks, caves, waterfalls, etc.

We can also visit the local markets and check all the fruits, handicrafts and learn about the Kichwa culture.

🍃 Day 5: Jondachi & Hollín rivers

First of all, as this is an isolated place, we’ll have to walk for 45 min in order to arrive to the starting point of our trip. This is why we hire people from the “Mondayacu” Community to carry all the gear down to the river.

JUNGLE TREK

Next, our first stop, after our fun jungle trek is the “Gran Cañón del Jondachi”: you will be amazed from the beginning of this trip! This is a rock formation of around 10 meters high with a waterfall and a beautiful natural lagoon in the middle of the jungle entrance; you are more that welcome to jump in and swim in these refreshing waters.

ABOUT THE RIVERS

This is one of the premiere Class III/III+ jungle runs in the area. This run is very remote and has beautiful waterfalls spilling into the river, not to mention fun rapids. After joining the Rio Hollin, the volume increases substantially and there are a number of fun pool-drop rapids, including the infamous “Wafflemaker” (Class IV).

At the take-out in Santo Domingo de Hollin, we are only a short drive from Pacha and a hot shower before another delicious dinner!

🍃 Day 6: Quijos river

ecuadorecolodge.com

Today we’ll get up early and drive to Baeza for a big day on the Rio Quijos, putting in at Bridge 2 and running down to Bridge 4.

This section is pretty continuous Class III+ at low to moderate flows and is relatively steep in the upper part. After the Rio Cosanga joins and adds some water, the river is more pool-drop in nature and with a lower gradient.

If water levels are good, we may extend the run through the Borja section. This short section has mostly Class III/III+ rapids with one harder rapid in “Pica Piedra.”

We’ll get back to Pacha in plenty of time for dinner.

🍃 Day 7: Hot Springs & Quito Transfer

After our last delicious breakfast at Pacha, pack up your gear to get ready to travel back to Quito. A private van/truck will transport the group back to Quito, with a stop to enjoy the Papallacta hot springs ($9,00/person).

Papallacta is a small town in Ecuador located at an altitude of 3,250 m in the Andes near the Cordillera Oriental on the way to Quito, which leads to the Amazon rainforest; we will be coming up from the jungle.

Most flights to the USA on domestic airlines leave Quito around midnight. We can drop you off at a hotel near the airport for a flight out the next day; however, you’ll need to book the hotel yourself and arrange transport to the airport.
